Temecula Winter Match - 13th January 2008, Sunday

In about 4 weeks, CASA is going to be holding a Winter Match on Sunday January 13th, 2008. The location will be on Larry Durham's Ranch in the beautiful wine country of Temecula. Terrain will vary from flat to hills and from sandy to rocky. Some shots will be even off ridges; ridges that are very difficult shots, but fun. Expect wind!!! Some of us will be shooting @ Prado, then doing final sight ins and field target set up's @ LD's on Saturday. Feel welcome to join!! The number of field targets will be determined Saturday. GENERAL DIRECTIONS

1. Go to Temecula on the I-15
2. Exit on Rancho California road toward the Wine Country and Lake Skinner, and continue around 12mi on Rancho Calif Road
3. Turn right on East Benton road (if you reach Lake Skinner you went a bit too far), and go about 4.5mi.
4. Turn LEFT at the stop onto De Portola Road
5. Follow De Portola about a mile and turn LEFT on Overhill Rd (its dirt)
6. Take Overhill about 1/4 mile to 38505 Overhill Road. The address is on a big rock at the driveway entry.

Angeles Silhouette Match

It was a beautiful, but very cold, sunny day @ Angeles Shooting Range; started off and ended off with virtually no wind. The temperature was in the low 60's. There were a total of 8 shooters that showed up. It was nice to see Boris Sorkin and his friend Leonid Ganeline. Boris I believe is primarily a firearm shooter and the last time I saw him was @ the last major Shade Tree gathering with CASA. Boris did an awesome job in taking 1st place with a score of 36, Tim scoring 28 took 2nd and 3rd places went to both Richard and Leonid. For Iron Sight Pistol, Richard Ronne scored 33 taking 1st, Boris took 2nd scoring 30 and his friend Leonid taking 3rd. For Open Class, once again we have Vipha Miller on fire taking 1st for a best score of 31, Ian Roberts took 2nd with a best score of 29 and then both Tim and Joe Haddad taking 4th. Pete Matos - Custom Sidewheels & Nikko Side Wheel Pointer

I was looking through the Yellow Forum a few days back and saw a post on a Korick EV2 (Click here for Pic). It had an awesome bead blasted sidewheel mated on a Nikko Diamond scope. The scope also had a clever custom sidewheel pointer (Click here for Pic). There are a few of us, every now and then, that are looking for a machinist that can do almost anything you want, provided that you give them the drawings and specs. The guy who made that wheel and is capable of making custom design sidewheels that I describe is named Pete Matos - a 37 year-old from Tenessee self-taught in working the lathe and mill by hand. Next time your looking for someone to do your own designed sidewheel, give an email or ring. Pricing varies upon design.
